About Laura Gunn

Between 2015 and 2018, experienced prosecutor Laura Gunn served the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, in California, in the role of deputy district attorney. Her responsibilities in this position ranged from reviewing evidentiary and policy factors influencing trial outcomes to discussing firearms prosecutions with agencies at the local, state, and federal levels. Laura Gunn was also tasked with formulating legislative policy proposals involving the state’s gun laws, among other activities.

Prior to becoming deputy district attorney, Laura Gunn served as deputy district attorney IV, a role that involved working on cases with the family protection division, the sex crimes and stalking division, and the special operations division, among other areas of focus.

Ms. Gunn studied philosophy as an undergraduate at the University of California, Irvine. She continued her education by receiving an MA in speech communication at San Diego State University before achieving her JD at the University of San Diego School of Law. She focused her studies on constitutional law during this time and was a recipient of an American Jurisprudence Award.
